About us
The building where this cultural center is located is historical since it was owned by Antonio Ricaurte's family, courageous and brave captain who sacrificed his life under General Simón Bolívar's command during the San Mateo Battle in 1814.
In the nine exhibition halls the visitor will find the most representative elements of the Colombian Military Forces; the Army, Navy and Air Force. The collection of the Military Museum started with the firearms and equipment from the former Weapons Museum at the José María Córdova Military Academy. The Military Museum of Colombia was founded on August 6th, 1982, by former President Julio César Turbay Ayala.
